October 1, 2026 - Budderfly was featured in Sustainability Magazine’s October 2026 issue, which profiles Founder and CEO Al Subbloie. The interview traces his career from an economics degree at Trinity College and a start at Andersen Consulting to founding and leading three technology and services companies, each in a new industry. Subbloie says that outsider’s perspective has led to the unique innovations Budderfly has created.

The piece also explores how his background as a Division 3 college athlete shapes Budderfly’s team-first culture, and how he divides his role between setting vision, staying hands-on with customers and operations, and raising capital while keeping the board informed. It outlines Budderfly’s model of fully outsourced energy management, in which the company takes on utility billing and funds major equipment upgrades over 10 to 15 years. Subbloie puts it this way: “I like building companies. That’s my sport, I guess.”
