Facilities Dive: Budderfly and Viridi Team Up to Install "Fail-Safe" Batteries at Commercial Facilities

June 18, 2026 - Budderfly announced a partnership with Viridi to bring the company's "fail-safe" battery storage systems to 100 U.S. commercial sites enrolled in Budderfly's energy-as-a-service program, as reported by Facilities Dive. The rollout's first phase is already underway, with early deployments at a Connecticut manufacturing facility and three restaurant franchises.

Budderfly CEO Al Subbloie said many of the installations will pair Viridi's batteries with on-site solar, and that the combination — along with Budderfly's existing HVAC controls, LED lighting and other efficiency upgrades — can reduce commercial facilities' energy costs by 60% to 70%. On the model's appeal, Subbloie said the company "removes the barriers that have historically" limited adoption, funding, deploying and managing the batteries at no upfront cost to customers.
