# Battery Technology: Fail-Safe BESS Technology Prevents Thermal Runaway at Single-Cell Level
September 8, 2026 - Budderfly's energy storage partnership with Viridi was featured in a Battery Technology profile of Viridi's fail-safe battery systems, written by Joe Darrah. The article explains how Viridi's anti-propagation design stops thermal runaway at a single battery cell, and covers recent deployments at a municipal wastewater pumping station and at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Grid Research Innovation and Development Center.
